Vaaka Partners strengthens team with new Partner in Sweden
Tomas Therén has joined Vaaka Partners and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. Having Tomas on board is a stepping stone for Vaaka’s expansion into the Swedish market. He also brings depth and breadth to the team with his broad expertise and extensive background in private equity.
Tomas Therén has 25 years of experience in private equity, including his previous role as managing partner at Procuritas, a Nordic private equity firm. Tomas joined the board of Vaaka in 2022, thereby gaining insight into Vaaka’s team and value creation capabilities.
Tomas will be leading Vaaka’s operations in Sweden. The geographic expansion, backed by a seasoned private equity professional and a growing team in Sweden, means not only opening the door to increased investment opportunities but also enhancing Vaaka’s ability to support its companies in their international growth.
In Sweden, Vaaka will be focusing on its core segment of digital evolution in business services, covering both business services and software companies. Vaaka has a strong long-term track record with compelling growth journeys in the core segment. In addition, Vaaka believes that it can bring something new to the market with its proprietary Champion Platform, which equips companies among others with tailored tools and support, enabling them to scale operations and achieve sustainable growth.

As the first hire in the Stockholm’s office, Tomas has a key role in establishing Vaaka in the Swedish market. Vaaka will hire two more investment professionals in Sweden in the short-term. Vaaka will continue as a unified team, with cross-staffing between Finland and Sweden offices, thereby ensuring smooth collaboration and success as a Nordic firm.
